A New Chapter for The Dog's Pajamas

Why I’m Scaling Back Pet Sitting to Focus on What Matters Most

For the past 10 years, I’ve poured my heart into caring for your pets as if they were my own. Early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays—I’ve been honored to be part of your pets’ lives, giving them love and care when you couldn’t be there. It’s been the most rewarding chapter of my life, and I’m forever grateful to each of you who trusted me and my amazing team along the way.

But if I’m honest, being “always on” for a decade has caught up with me. Burnout is something we don’t talk about enough in the pet care industry, but it’s real. The long hours, the emotional weight of caring for pets, and rarely taking a true break has left me needing to pause and recalibrate.

That’s why I’ve made the decision to scale back our pet sitting services and shift our focus solely to midday dog walking and cat sitting. These are the services that allow for a healthier work-life balance, and keep me connected to the pets and people I love—without the around-the-clock demands of dog vacation visits.

This change also opens up space for me to nurture my other passion: The Pet Wellness Project. Some of you know this is my heart’s work—empowering pet parents with resources, single-ingredient treats, and nutrition consults to help pets live their healthiest, happiest lives. My own journey with my dog Sam’s cancer diagnosis sparked this calling, and now it’s time for me to fully step into that purpose.

Most importantly, I’m looking forward to spending more time with my own fur kids, who have been so patient while I’ve cared for everyone else’s.

If you’re a client or someone who has recently reached out for pet sitting, please check your email—I sent out more details about this transition last month, and I’ll be following up again soon with additional updates and resources.

I want you to know this isn’t goodbye. I’ll still be walking dogs, visiting cats, and loving your pets like my own. The Dog’s Pajamas isn’t going anywhere—it’s just evolving to a place where I can serve you (and your pets) even better, without sacrificing my own wellness.

Thank you for understanding this shift and supporting me through it. If you have any questions about your pet care needs going forward, please reach out. And if you’d like to follow along, I’d love to have you join me over at The Pet Wellness Project.

With gratitude,

Amy
